What you need to know about biking to and from SAN
SAN airport is reachable by bike! The key is to stow your bike properly and follow a few safety precautions while inside the airport. The following is a quick guide to help you:
CAN ANYONE BIKE TO THE AIRPORT?
In addition to day travelers with just a backpack as their carry-on, bicycles are great for airport employees and contractors. In order to relieve congestion along our already busy roads, the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority encourages public transportation, carpooling, and bicycling to the airport. A bike rack is available on the SAN San Diego Flyer and Rental Car Center shuttles as well as on the MTS trolley and 992 bus.
MY BIKE IS STOLEN. WHERE DO I PARK IT?
Public bike lockers at the airport campus were installed in 2011 by SAN. Our bicycle parking area includes over 100 spaces, as well as two stainless steel bike lockers provided by SandAG. Upon checking out, there is a $25 key deposit that can be refunded. Bicycles can be stored in up to four lockers at a time.
The address of each location is shown below, as well as the link to register for SANDAG.
You can lock your bike on our bike racks; they range from stainless steel circles to red racks. When using them, make sure to park your bike perpendicular (inbetween) and not parallel. Their locations can be found throughout Terminal 2, USO Center, and the San Diego Rental Car Center.
ARE THERE BIKE LANES?
If you're arriving at the airport campus quickly, take advantage of Harbor Drives bike lanes or the nearby low-stress Spanish Landing trail.
There will be additional parking spaces and a shared pedestrian and bike path in our new T1. Although SAN encourages micromobility, scooters and skateboards are not permitted. Enjoy your trip to SAN on wheels.
